Contrary to popular opinion, the browser isn't the ultimate destination for WebAssembly. Think of it instead as a test bed for the features that we ultimately want to use "cloud-side". WebAssembly's security, portability, small size, and speed make it an ideal unit of deployment for code loosely coupled from non-functional requirements. This talk gives an overview of WebAssembly and why we think it's the future of distributed computing. We'll cover how wasm can shrink and simplify your code and demonstrate WebAssembly's true power outside the browser.
