Successful software companies understand that happier employees do better work. As a result, it is common for organizations to pamper workers with perks like on-site massage, single-origin coffee and free organic food. Yum. But when it comes to the experience of actually writing software, developers are often left to the mercy of platform and off-the-shelf tools. In this presentation we discuss why tracking and investing in your team's developer experience is a good idea, what a good DX looks like and how we, at Slack, go about making our mobile developer's life simpler, more pleasant and more productive.
Valera is a Tech Lead of the Mobile Developer Experience team at Slack. He previously worked at Google on the Espresso test framework and is, considered by some, a Google Developer Expert in the area of Android testing. He enjoys long walks on the beach at sunset, cake and making developers more productive. He does not enjoy recurring meetings and is absolutely allergic to flaky tests.
