About Zach Pendleton

As the Chief Architect of Instructure, the makers of Canvas, Zach Pendleton brings over a decade of experience in education technology to solving education’s most pressing challenges. In the past, he has built and scaled engineering organizations from a single engineer to over a hundred and worked on both large legacy applications and greenfield startup projects. As an engineer and a speaker he has traveled across the world to collaborate with teachers and students to extend education’s reach, to promote open educational platforms, and to improve the impact of education technology. Today he is a frequent speaker, podcast guest, and author in education technology when he isn’t working with Instructure’s engineering teams to promote innovation and plan system designs. His current research areas are large language models, digital credentialing, and edge computing.
